| 6th Annual Excalibur Fantasy Faire"In the year of Our Lord 1191, when Richard, the Lion-Heart, set forth to the Holy Land, he gave the Regency of his Kingdom to his trusted friend Longchamp instead of to his treacherous brother, Prince John. Bitterly resentful, John hoped for some disaster to befall Richard so that he, with the help of the Norman barons, might seize the throne for himself. And then on a luckless day for the Saxons..." Thus begins the tale of our 2004 season of Excalibur Fantasy Faire. We will take a one year depart from our beloved Arthurian legends and tell the even better known, thrilling story of Robin Hood. We will tell the fairy-tale romance with nostalgic chivalry, colorful pageantry, simple righteousness triumphant over villainous and evil might, and spectacular action! Not only will the talented players of Excalibur be bringing the story of Robin Hood to life, they will also be presenting the legend of the courageous Saxon Knight, Ivanhoe! Our joust this year will twice a day breathe life into Sir Walter Scott's 1819 novel. The epitome of the chivalric Knight, the tale of Ivanhoe sweeps patrons into Medieval England and the lives of a memorable cast of characters. So we invite one and all, Saxon or Norman, rich or poor, to join us for our best season ever with the telling of the heroic Sherwood bandit and the brave Saxon Knight!
